Whitehorse Street Baldock on a Saturday afternoon
Here is a picture looking back across arable greenbelt land at our historic Market Town from the area of the new proposal for 3,500 homes. All of what you see will be lost should these be adopted! Please help us keep what is right.
Whitehorse Street – past and present
High Street – past and present
A view of North Road looking towards the A1 at rush hour. An access road to the development might be sited there.
Icy but peaceful. Salisbury Road in winter.
Looking directly at the area where development is proposed alongside Salisbury Road.
View over the agricultural land threatened by development
A crop of flax on the threatened field.
Harvest time on the field threatened by development.
View which is typical of those to be lost by householders in Salisbury Road if development is given the go-ahead.
Winter perspective of possible development site
Looking towards the railway bridge at about 8.30 on a Monday morning
And at the same time this is looking in the other direction towards the A1. The light blue van in the distance is about where an access road might go?
A picture of the area that could be covered taken from the highest point of the field looking down on Bygrave, Salisbury and North Roads at 7.45am on Thursday
Note how close to the edge of the path the pusher wheels are.
The picture of the wide area of land north of Baldock is taken from the path to the Icknield Way ridge It only shows some of the land that could be covered by 3500 houses. There is more HCC land for houses to the left of the picture, going almost to Bygrave. This proposal is like a new town north of Baldock. With all the pedestrian traffic from Baldock New Town, perhaps the footpaths under the railway bridge should be widened, with the single track traffic controlled by traffic lights.
This proposed development should not proceed north of the railway due to the serious lack of safe passage not to mention the serious traffic congestion around Baldock Town.
