2014 consultation comments

SUBMISSIONS SUMMARY

Here are some of the submissions made in the previous consultation period.  We have also added links to one or two other submissions and articles from other organisations and newspapers which you should find of interest.

Common themes are:

  • The opportunistic nature of the plan which lacks a good strategy for the whole of North Herts
  • Grave concern about the use of Green Belt to accommodate stated housing needs without thorough investigation of brown field and other land
  • A strong need to maintain the distinct and diverse characters of the separate North Herts towns and not to compromise this with mass building
  • A proposal, instead to plan and build a new Garden City, or garden villages as the second part of a two part approach
  • The first tranche of building to be mainly on less controversial land
